Sponsored Strategies Overview
Algonomy partners with HookLogic to allow promoted or sponsored products bid on by advertisers to be presented within recommendations. Each strategy that allows for this includes "Sponsored" in its name.
Scoring:
Scoring of these strategies is a blend of Relevance of Recommendations, Cost per Click (CPC) and Randomization:

Relevance of Recommendations: To determine relevance of recommendations, sponsored strategies utilize "Top Product" scores which are based on overall views and purchases.

Cost per Click (CPC): The cost per clicks from the advertiser (what they are willing to pay per click) is normalized and leveraged. Normalization is critical because behavior varies widely depending on the currency of the client's site.

Randomization: To prevent the strategies becoming purely static, a measure of randomization is needed. This can be set and adjusted with the site configuration "sponsored randomization" ranging from 0-10.0 where 0 represents no randomization and 10 indicates high randomization. The randomization should be leveraged to avoid a sponsored product's budget being burned through right away by always being ranked high.
